New year, new Community Manager

January 24, 2024

Hello, I’m Surej.

I’m a graphic designer based in Naarm/Melbourne. I work as a freelancer collaborating with good people doing good things for others and the world.

I joined NNC in November of last year after getting to know about them from attending Just Rewards when it stopped by in Melbourne. I got to know about the great things that they’ve done within the industry, and I particularly loved the attention and focus on mental health outcomes and support for BIPOC students.

When I saw the ad for the Community Manager, I remember thinking ‘that would be a great gig.’ The main reason for this was that it very much aligns with my values. I love the work that Andy and the team have done at NNC, and I wanted to be, and now am, a part of it.

My own experiences as a queer, POC within the industry contributed to wanting to join the team as well. I sometimes feel locked out of working in the spaces that most designers dream of working in. This led me to creating my own space that I work in today, which you can check out here.

I’m excited for the year ahead with NNC, and I look forward to connecting with you over the coming months.

Join us on our slack channel here - say hi.

Feel free to drop a line if you’d like to connect. I’m partial to an oat latte.

Cheers,

Surej
