The idea of Never Not Creative was born. Do we always have to ‘burnout’? Does our industry have a mental health problem? Why don’t we pay interns? Maybe, just maybe we can do something about it.
Listen up. The Never Not Creative podcast launches to share discussions and debate on the challenges facing our industry.
Let’s see if our industry really does have a mental health problem. We partnered with Unltd and Everymind to conduct industry first research into the mental health of the creative, media and marketing industry. The findings? More than half of us have had symptoms of anxiety or depression in the last 12 months.
We hit a nerve. We’re inundated with responses to our research findings. All of that passion and support, we had to take advantage of it. So we set up the Mentally-Healthy Change Group. Passionate individuals from across the industry, all looking to improve the stigma surrounding mental health.
Time to draw a line in the sand. We get together to write Minimum Standards for mental health in our industry. They clearly outline the responsibilities of employers to prioritise mental wellbeing, conversations and make reasonable adjustments at work to make sure we can all operate at our best.
Asking for a friend? While we’re making progress, it’s fair to say that there’s still stigma around talking about mental health. Enter our monthly, virtual event series – Asking For A Friend. Anyone anywhere can ask anything anonymously about career or mental health to an industry leader or a psychologist. It’s an instant hit.
