May 2022 Asking For A Friend

May 5, 2022

With guests, Alex Wadelton, Creative Director and psychologist Jocelyn Brewer.

Asking For A Friend teams an industry leader with a psychologist to give advice on career, mental health and everything in between. It’s there for the questions you don’t yet have the courage to ask of your boss or at your workplace for fear of how you may be judged or treated. Of course, we hope you can ask those questions, but just in case, you can ask them anonymously for a friend instead.

Alex Wadelton

Alex Wadelton is one of Australia’s most highly regarded advertising writers and creative directors. In 2016, he was rated as one of the world’s top 20 advertising writers. His advertising campaigns have run all around the world. His charity campaigns have raised hundreds of thousands of dollars. And he spearheaded a campaign to create a statue honouring Indigenous footballer Nicky Winmar’s iconic stance against racism. He is also the author of The Right-brain Workout – his first book.

Jocelyn Brewer

Jocelyn Brewer is a psychologist and cyberpsychology consultant. Her passion and expertise lie in the intersection of psychology, technology, and authentic wellbeing. After five years teaching social science, Jocelyn retrained as a psychologist. In late 2013, she created Digital Nutrition - a framework for teaching principles of a healthy, sustainable relationship to technology. Instead of suggesting unplugging or digital 'detoxing', Jocelyn advocates for intentional and intelligent technology use. She regularly presents and writes about the impact of technology, and consults on cyberpsychology. Other passions include writing; producing quality independent theatre; researching the social impacts of internet and technology use; consulting on social media projects and managing social media communities.
